Catalytic Converter modifications

The original ford catalytic converter has very good flow characteristics, in most cases better than most high flow versions,

The bigger the cat ,the greater the surface area for the exhaust gas to pass thru...dont get fooled the original ford 6cyl cat is one
of the biggest available

Cut off the inlet and outlet pipes
the front pipe needs to be cut on a slight angle approx 1 1/2" from the cat cut the outlet pipe approx 1cm from the end you can expand the outlet so 2 1/2" goes into the cat or you can leave this small restriction

The cat inlet is already 2 1/2" so the flange
is placed into position

The catalytic is placed into position,spot welded then removed to be welded properly then reinstalled ,at this stage the front flange of the cat is port matched to the extractor outlet flange.The pipe leading from the cat should be stainless steel to the muffler flange [4" to 5" long]
